John Deere vs. Toro vs. Jacobsen: Comparing Used Reel Mowers
Yard notes · August 2026
Most used reel deals we write land in one of three brand families. The “best” choice is usually the one that matches your parts bench and the rest of the fleet.
John Deere
John Deere Reel Mower platforms show up often from courses standardizing on one color. Buyers like familiar dealer parts and a deep used market. Fairway-focused shops also ask for John Deere fairway configs when the greens fleet is already green.
Toro
Toro Reel Mower units remain common on greens and approaches. Shops that already stock Toro reels and bedknives usually stay in that family so grind and parts stay simple.
Jacobsen
Jacobsen Reel Mower iron still cycles through fleet sales nationwide. Condition and cut quality matter more than the badge. Tell us greens versus fairway preference when you request a quote.
How we advise
We do not crown a winner. We ask what you already run, what your mechanic can support, and which surfaces you cut. Then we quote what is on the yard that fits.
